Snow Dogs Iceland welcomes you to our Siberian Husky kennel at Vallholt Farm in North Iceland.
At the farm, you meet the dogs in their home and see how they live — and how happy they are to meet you and get ready for work.
After dressing up in the overalls provided by Snow Dogs for the tour, you will meet the dogs and get to know them before we let them out into the large yard. Here, they warm up, meet each other, and greet our guests.
This is when the dogs are at their most excited, eager to start running right away. Before the tour begins, we go through sled safety instructions and hook the dogs up to the sleds. Once everything is ready, we set off on the adventure.
The dog sledding tour starts directly from our farm and covers a distance of approximately 6–7 km. Along the way, we stop for photos and give the dogs time to cool down.
After the run, the dogs are calm and content, and there is time to pet them and give them a well-earned belly rub.
Dog sledding on snow in north Iceland and kennel visit. 2 hours of fun.
Dog sledding tour on snow and a visit to our unchained Siberian Husky Kennel at our farm Vallholt between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn, North Iceland 445 km (275 miles) from Reykjavík.
Our guests (groups of 2 to 4 persons) have a private sled with a Musher from Snow Dogs with 8-10 Siberian Huskies pulling us on a scenic trail of 6 – 8 km, taking approximately 40-70 minutes with picture stops.
Your Musher will explain to you the basics in dog sledding and how to work with these amazing dogs. You also have the opportunity to help mush the sled with one of our guides if you want to try it.
