Join us for an unforgettable dog sledding tour on snow, combined with a visit to our unchained
Siberian Husky Kennel at Vallholt Farm, conveniently located between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn
in North Iceland.
Upon arrival at Vallholt Kennel, you will be greeted by one of our experienced mushers and our
beautiful Siberian Huskies. We ensure your comfort by providing access to toilet facilities and
offering additional clothing and gear, so you can enjoy the dog sledding experience to the fullest.
Next, you will have the chance to meet the dogs up close. Our musher will share fascinating details
about our Huskies, including their personalities and family connections, allowing you to get to
know these remarkable animals before the adventure begins.
Before setting out, you will receive a safety briefing to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
Afterward, it’s time to embark on the scenic trail.
Groups of 2 to 4 guests will have a private sled, led by a musher from Snow Dogs and pulled by
6 to 10 Siberian Huskies. The trail covers a distance of 6 to 8 km and typically takes 40 to
60 minutes, including stops for photos along the way.
During the journey, your musher will explain the basics of dog sledding and how to work alongside
these incredible dogs. If conditions permit and you are interested, you may also have the opportunity
to help mush the sled with guidance from your musher.
Following the dog sledding adventure, there will be ample time to spend at the kennel, where you
can cuddle and take photos with the friendly Siberian Huskies.

Dress well in winter, warm shoes, sunglasses, sunblock. Goggles are often a good choice in outdoors activities in the Icelandic winter.

Dog sledding tour on snow and a visit to our unchained Siberian Husky Kennel at our farm Vallholt between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn, North Iceland 445 km (275 miles) from Reykjavík.
Our guests (groups of 2 to 4 persons) have a private sled with a Musher from Snow Dogs with 8-10 Siberian Huskies pulling us on a scenic trail of 6 – 8 km, taking approximately 40-70 minutes with picture stops.
Your Musher will explain to you the basics in dog sledding and how to work with these amazing dogs. You also have the opportunity to help mush the sled with one of our guides if you want to try it.
After the dog sledding adventure there is plenty of time at the kennel to meet, cuddle and take pictures with the lovely Siberian Huskies.
Total tour time around 2 hours with the kennel visit.

Snow Dogs Iceland welcomes you to our Siberian Husky kennel at Vallholt farm, North Iceland.
At the farm you meet the dogs at their home and see how they live. And how happy they are to meet you and go to work.
After dressing up in overalls Snow Dogs provides for the tour you meet the dogs and get to know them before we let them out in the big yard. There they warm up and meet each other and the guest. This is a time when they are the most excited because they want to start running right away. But first we go over safety on the sled and hook them up on the lines for the sleds and when everything is ready we start the tour.
The dog sledding tour starts from our farm and we go about 6-7 km on the sleds. We make breaks for pictures and to cool them down a bit on the way.
After the running on the tour the dogs are super happy and calm and we pet them and give them a good belly rub.
